They presented two use cases on his pilot, the first with a focus on food donations and the second on mapping empty public buildings.
Donations are gathered in “CoopBox” boxes installed at the market where buyers donate the change or small value coins that they no longer want. The money equivalent to the donated amount is tokenized and then are redistributed among those citizens in need. These needy people will be able to consume these tokens in the different stores enabled by QR codes. When they take a product from the store, the equivalent value in tokens will be deducted from the credits (tokens). This assures an equal distribution of the collected money and avoids the waste of money in non-important or unhealthy items. In order to carry out these CoopBoxes, they have identified the following actors:
- Providers: Merchants
- Supporters: Regular donors, other maker customers.
- Consumers: People in need, citizens with social exclusion problems.
To motivate the development of the pilot, there are four producers (shops) in a market. Also, future negotiations with trade associations are planned. The service will be presented in events at the market and an article in the local newspaper, as well as different distributed leaflets in strategic places.
On the other hand, it has been presented the scenario where the abandoned buildings in the city are mapped. Employing objects allocated in First Life, they indicate the potential services that the citizens classify as necessary at the specific building. To be able to comment on this aspect, they have planned the usage of LiquidFeedback as a discussion platform. The following actors have been identified:
- Mappers: Volunteers from community groups looking for empty locations that can be used around the city.
- Public officers: Those people with a presence at the urban planning agency and other property-related services.
To introduce this pilot, they are going to perform visits to two social centers with more than 10 participants in each one with the objective of motivating the role of empty building mapper.
Currently, public administration personnel related to the city building management are involved, and the use of the spaces found by the locators will be promoted at the plenary sessions in the municipality. In order to reach a wider audience, DAEM takes into account the possibility of holding workshops and feedback sessions for anyone who wants to participate.
