Ruth S. Contreras (FUB) participated in DEVHR 2020 Forum, presenting the conference titled “Beyond voting: Gamification in Citizen Participation” the last October 6th. The forum is a unique debating stage, that gathers experts in the field of gaming and gamification from all over the world. Among them game developers, researchers, authority and business representatives and academic community leaders. This event is organised by the Metropolitan Autonomus University, Monterrey Institute of Technology, the Open University of Catalonia and the Cultural Department of the Mexico City.
“Gamification can mobilise citizens effectively to participate in public decision-making but gamification can also have detrimental effects if the citizen doesn’t see the value of it” said Ruth Contreras.
DEVHR was first announced as a traditional forum physically allocated in Mexico City, but because of the pandemic, the organizers decided to transform the event in an online forum. The program included many sessions during 5 days.
The conference was presented to a community of 1580 experts in Games and Gamification, students and developers, where the advances in the field of games and gamification were discussed.
